Mike Fletcher works with a variety of materials and techniques to create site-specific sculpture, installation, public art and school ground designs.
His creative response to a place and choice of materials is led by the site. The permanent and temporary landscape pieces often incorporate narratives based on historical, cultural or imagined stories that root the work in the land.
He is interested in the quality of lines in landscapes and how we respond to these lines. Spaces created support the movement and resting of people through space and our instinct to feel safe and protected.
His work distils landscape elements to a simple form, which aims to be accessible and responsive.
